Insport Series North Wales
Insport series North Wales, an inclusive sports day will be held at Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay this month. There will be over 20 sports to try for all ages, friends and families. The insport events are fantastic opportunities to try out new sports and activities and to find out what’s available locally.

Club Forum 2018 - 18th October
The Outdoor Partnership would like to invite members of local outdoor clubs to our club forum at Plas y Brenin. The Forum will give clubs the chance to find out about our new website and its new online booking system, and also what support is available from the Outdoor Partnership and local authorities, including funding, training opportunities and mentor support.

Volunteer of the Month: September 2018 : Jackie Evans
Conwy Connect Climbing Club was set up in October 2016 for adults with learning disabilities. They meet weekly at the fantastic indoor climbing facility at Ysgol Y Gogarth, Llandudno. During the summer months they also meet and climb at local crags putting the skills learnt indoors into practice outdoors.

Large crowds turn out for first ever Colwyn Bay Surf Lifesaving Club sessions.

Respect the Mountains

Club review: Trefriw Walkers are Welcome
The local community group in Trefriw meet regularly for various organised walks within the region.
The walking group is the lead organiser for the annual Trefriw Walking Festival and were awarded the Walkers are Welcome accreditation in Autumn 2014, an accolade given to towns and villages “with something special to offer walkers”.

Gill Scheltinga is the Chairperson of Trefriw Walking Festival, and was responsible in 2013 for the establishment of this now annual event.
For the first two years the Festival was run under the auspices of Cerdded Conwy Walks, but since 2015 it has been organised and run totally independently.

Inclusive Skiing and Climbing opportunities for Anglesey’s disabled young people.
Disability skiing lessons have been happening at Llandudno Ski Centre, and climbing at Indy Climbing Wall, Llanfair PG. Sessions have been funded by the Isle of Anglesey Activities for People with Disabilities Small Grants Fund.

Re-establishment of Moelfre Rowing club
During 2017 several former members and a number of new rowers were busy re-establishing the club at Moelfre, Anglesey. The club has not been in active for some years, but with the support of the Beaumaris club, the old equipment were gathered together, a new website was established, a new dolly was built for the boat and through the support of a Community Chest grant, a new cover was also purchased.

Based in the Dolgellau area, Breeze Coed y Brenin is a Mountain Biking group for women and hold regular rides to suit all abilities. The group has been running for around 20 months and has proved successful in encouraging women to participate in cycling.

Judy has been a member of Colwyn Canoe Club for 6 years. She is an active volunteer and has a passion for Sea Paddling. She has recently been working alongside OP mentors to develop new volunteers for the club.

Alan is one of the founder members of Clwb Mynydda Môn and was instrumental in its establishment. He has served as treasurer for the club since the beginning and it is in no small part because of his attention to detail in maintaining the club’s finances and his success in securing grant funding that the club continues to flourish.

Simon is a founder member of Conwy Sea Rowers. We received Community Club of the year 2 years ago and we have achieved Insport Silver. Simon puts in a huge amount of effort and hours behind the scenes to ensure the club runs well and all rowers are safe and have fun out on the water.

Wendy is a long-time member of Amlwch Canoe Club, she is always willing to help anyone and has frequently transported kayaks on the roof of her car for those that don’t have a roof rack. She volunteers to be the shuttle car driver even on trips that she is not paddling on.

Simon is a founder member of Clwb Mynydda Mon on Anglesey. The club started after some climbing taster sessions and Simon was one of a small group who were keen to keep the club going. The club is affiliated to the BMC and offers weekly indoor climbing sessions and regular outdoor trips and events.
