Outdoor Equipment store for local groups in Conwy

Posted on June 9th, 2008

The North West Wales Outdoor Partnership and Conwy County Borough Council Leisure Services will be launching its new Outdoor equipment storeroom based at Dyffryn Conwy Leisure Centre, Llanrwst.

Through a Sports Council for Wales ‘active capital lifestyle fund’ the county has been able to develop an equipment store based at Dyffryn Conwy Leisure Centre which will cater for the needs of groups, clubs, schools, youth clubs, organisations and agencies wishing to access the ‘great outdoors’.

Arwel Elias, Outdoor Development Officer for Conwy explained “We have a range of equipment that people can access, things like waterproofs, fleeces, rucksacks, boots, orienteering equipment, problem solving equipment etc. Groups can book the equipment through any leisure centre within the county, we can also arrange more adventurous programmes through the leisure services and can provide climbing, mountain biking, hill walking and mountaineering courses for groups, using our dedicated team of Outdoor instructors.

Conwy’s Outdoor Equipment Store is an excellent initiative funded through the Sport Council for Wales aimed at breaking down barriers and encouraging people to make use of their natural surrounding and to make exercise part of their daily lives, having access to equipment will hopefully create more doorstep opportunities, and encourage people to get physically active and into the open air.
