Re-establishment of Moelfre Rowing club

February 05 2018

During 2017 several former members and a number of new rowers were busy re-establishing the club at Moelfre, Anglesey. The club has not been in active for some years, but with the support of the Beaumaris club, the old equipment were gathered together, a new website was established, a new dolly was built for the boat and through the support of a Community Chest grant, a new cover was also purchased.

The club rows every week from Traeth Bychan between Moelfre and Benllech.

It is a fantastic location for watersports due to the shelter from south westerly winds.

With the lifeboat station and village museum, the maritime tradition is strong. Nearby Dulas and Moefre islands provide an array of interesting wildlife.

Group coastal trips around the whole island were organised during the last year, and this year’s aim is to focus on the western coast to complete a circular journey.

Members come from all walks of life but many have connections to the hospital in Bangor.

New members are also welcome. It’s a great way to keep fit and healthy in the outdoors.
