Volunteer Award: December 2017 - Tanya Michael, Clwb Syrffio Dyffryn Conwy

Posted on November 21st, 2017

From April to November Tanya has been manning the surf club reception, always ready for 7.30am without fail, before any other members arrive. Admissions are always clearly communicated to the surf academy volunteers and any conflicts in numbers signed in are chased up and identified.

At the end of each session the book keeping is done meticulously by Tanya and submitted to the clubs Treasurer. It’s fantastic having Tanya week in week out, always with a smile, always reliable and always on the ball.

Tanya is also the clubs Health and Safety officer and has done an admirable job drafting, completing, modifying, monitoring and communicating the clubs risk assessments and Health and Safety Policy to it’s members, volunteers and parents. Another task that involves a lot of work and focus.

Why they deserve it: Tanya’s role as ‘front of desk’ isn’t a glamorous one but she does an amazing job getting to know members, dealing with any concerns or issues with surfers or parents, managing payments and keeping track as members come and go on the three age group sessions available. Whilst others are helpers are wandering about admiring the surf and surfers or just talking and grabbing a coffee Tanya spends 2.5 hours sat at front of desk acting as a hub that oils the clubs smooth running, always available, always there, always helpful and supportive.
