Aberfan Canoe Club

About the club

The club was formed in 1974 and meets every Friday at Aberfan leisure centre. During the school Summer hols it's just a one hour session from 7 - 8 pm. Normal Friday sessions are between 7 - 9 p m split into three sections. Beginners, more advanced and then they normally have a game session (Polo). You're very welcome to come along any Friday and give it a try, all you need is your bathers and Rash vest/T shirt. Cost £4 per person per session. After three weeks we are now required by our governing body to request people to become members (small nominal fee, renewable yearly) this covers insurance and kit. We cover all kinds of water from canal, river, white water to sea. You can gain experience in both open canoe and kayak whilst learning at a pace to suit you, the level you can attain simply depends how far you wish to pursue it.
