Do you help look after someone?
An unpaid carer is someone who looks after a relative, friend or neighbour who is ill, frail, disabled, has a mental health concern, or is affected by substance misuse and who could not manage without that help.
A young carer (under 18) or young adult carer (18-25) is someone whose life is restricted because of the need to take responsibility for a family member due to issues as above.
The care they provide is unpaid.
We are currently working towards the Bronze Award. This has included training for the staff team, updating policies and improving communications on social media.
We hope to go on to work towards Silver and Gold in the near future to ensure that our programmes and charity are inclusive of all carers.
Our young carers adventure programme called AMSER, has been going on all across Wales since the summer of 2023, and provided 1175 opportunities for young carers to try all kinds of activities, like bush craft, caving, canoeing, mountain biking, surfing and rafting.
The programme will continue this year with many more opportunities on the horizon – lots more fun to be had!
