Try our Walks
Llyn y Gadair-Nantlle
Distance: 4 miles
Duration: 2hrs
Description: Fairly flat, around a lake and through forest in the first half, with a small climb (150m) on the second half. Clear path along the way. You’ll need comfortable shoes with good grip for the uneven ground.

Starting point: Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri Car Park – Rhyd Ddu (LL54 6TN). On the S3 Sherpa bus route.

  • Cross the road from the car park, and go through the feature gate. Follow the main obvious path, and continue until you go over a footbridge with a gate on each end. Soon after the bridge, the track splits; make sure you take the path continuing left, which takes you along the elevated bank of Llyn y Gadair.
  • The path is clear ahead, and follows around Llyn y Gadair, and curving to the left. You will then go through a gate and into the forest area. This is Beddgelert Forest , a broadleaf and conifer forest.  At the next path junction, keep left again and follow the track as it goes on a slight downhill and through a gate that crosses the railway line. You have then reached Pont Cae Gors.
  • At Pont Cae Gors, cross the main road, through the gate on the other side and turn left. Follow the clear track again as this follows the stream on your right. As you skirt around farm buildings (Fridd Uchaf) visible on your right, you’ll start going uphill. Follow the path uphill until you get to an obvious crossroads. This is the highest point of the walk.
  • Turn left at the crossroads and you’ll shortly go through a gate in a big stone wall. Carry on down the obvious path as it goes gently downhill. This is the descent path from Yr Wyddfa, and will take you all the way down to the car park where you started the walk.
